Ensure your mirrors are always clean and properly adjusted
Check the road ahead before you consider changing lanes
Glance at your rearview mirror to ensure that the driver behind you doesn’t have his/her turn signal on to change lanes
Watch for vehicles that may move into your blind spot
Always let other drivers know your intentions by using your turn signal
Change lanes only when you know it is safe to do so
